about
Originally, “Go” was titled “Push and Pull.” The song included a pre-chorus before the hook and it described a daughter and father’s relationship during the mornings as their cranky personalities seem to clash. In order to make the song more relatable to a general audience I decided to make the relationship about a man and a women that are going through an on again and off again relationship.
I decided to cut out the pre-chorus and to cut straight to the point of the song that resides in the chorus. The chorus says, “Bicker pon a Monday/ Love you on a Tuesday/ Wake up in your arms on a Wednesday/ Now it’s time to Go/ Now it’s time to go.” The use of the days during the chorus relates to the relationship that my father and I have during the weekday mornings. It highlights the erratic emotions between a couple that vary from day to day. The last two lines, “Now it’s time to go/ Now it’s time to go” are significant because they serve as a strong statement to the woman that now it’s time for her to put an end to her back and fourth relationship.
“Go” was written using the Notes application on my iPhone. I wrote the chorus first and then built the verses around each chorus in order to tell a progressive story.
