Superhero: A 16-year-old girl named Malala Yousafzai, protested in the Swat Valley of Pakistan against the Taliban’s ban on women’s education. A passionate crusader, Malala never backed down from her protest even though she knew that she was putting herself in danger. On her way to school one day a member of the Taliban attempted to assassinate her. Malala however, put up a tremendous fight and her story bombarded news headlines all over the world. Malala moved to the United Kingdom to continue her fight against the social injustices that women and children are faced with worldwide. Her perseverance and dedication are truly inspirational. I decided to bring her story to light within the first verse of the song. "Superhero" also features vocals by Sbongiseni Duma, a member of the vocal ensemble from the Lion King on Broadway.
